GUIDED TROUT FISHING TRIPS

Located in the central Shenandoah Valley I am incredibly lucky to be surrounded by thousands of miles of beautiful trout streams. With a lifetime of exploring trout streams all over the valley and western Virginia I have gathered a knowledge of our streams few have. I welcome any skill level angler(s) to join me on a guided trip, from beginners looking to improve their fly fishing skills to the experienced just wanting to learn more about our abundant fisheries.

MOUNTAIN STREAMS

Spend the day on a secluded trout stream amongst the Blue Ridge or Allegheny mountains in western VA. The stunning native brook trout (Virginia's state fish) is the most common trout species you will encounter in these pristine waters. However there are quite a few wild rainbow and wild brown trout streams, as well as some with multiple species. Small stream trips can be a great way to improve casting skills, focus on stealth/approach, and learn the many hatches that occur here.

SPRING CREEKS

Virginia has a unique system of limestone spring-fed waters ranging from high mountain springs, to valley spring creeks, and even urban spring-fed fisheries. Though many have been affected by negative land-use practices over the years, there remains a number of spring-fed streams that hold trout and offer year-round fishing opportunities. Spring creeks can be technical and challenging at times but extremely rewarding. Some of the largest trout caught in all of Virginia are caught in spring systems!

TAIL WATERS

Virginia has a few notable large tail water trout fisheries as well as some smaller mountain stream tail water trout fisheries, each are unique in their own way. Are you interested in targeting large wild brown trout and acrobatic rainbow trout on big water? Then a float trip on the Jackson river below Gathright Dam in Alleghany county or the Smith river below Philpott Dam in Henry county are just the places to go! The smaller tail waters offer a more quaint setting and typically smaller wild trout but what they lack in size they make up for in beauty.
